Ernst Von Weizscker

Ernst Freiherr von Weizscker, (1882 - 1951), German diplomat. Weizscker, a member of the German Foreign Office from 1920, became Under-Secretary of State and directly responsible to Joachim von Ribbentrop, Head of the Foreign Office, in 1938. He was envoy to the Vatican from 1943. In 1947, Weizscker was arrested and accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes. Weizscker was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in 1949 in the Ministries Trial. He was released in 1950. Ernst von Weizscker was the father of Carl Friedrich von Weizscker and Richard von Weizscker.
