English Regency

The English Regency, or simply Regency, is a name typically given to a period from 1811 to 1820 in the history of the United Kingdom. During this time the Prince Regent, later King George IV of the United Kingdom, governed the United Kingdom during the incapacity of his father, King George III of the United Kingdom. The term is sometimes used in a more general sense to cover the entire period from approximately 1811 until the accession of Queen Victoria, encompassing the actual period of Regency, along with George IV's reign in his own right and that of his brother William IV.
