Elisabeth Mann-borgese

Elisabeth Mann-Borgese is the youngest daughter of Thomas Mann and his wife Katia Pringsheim, sister to Klaus, Erika, Golo and Michael Mann, and niece of the novelist Heinrich Mann. She was born April 24 1918 in Munich, Germany and died February 8 2002 in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Married to the Italian writer Giuseppe Antonio Borgese (1882-1952), she mothered two daughters, Angelica and Dominica. She early committed herself to the protection of the environment and was one of the founding members - and for a long time the only female member - of the Club of Rome.
