Elections in El Salvador gives information on elections and election results in El Salvador. El Salvador elects on national level a head of state – the president – and a legislature. The President of El Salvador is elected for a five-year term by the people. The Legislative Assembly (Asamblea Legislativa) has 84 members ("diputados"), elected for a three-year terms, 64 members in multi-seat constituencies and 20 by proportional representation. El Salvador has a two-party system, which means that there are two dominant political parties, with extreme difficulty for anybody to achieve electoral success under the banner of any other party.
