Elections In Austria

Elections in Austria gives information on election and election results in Austria. Austria elects on national level a head of state - the president - and a legislature. The president is elected for a six year term by the people. Parliament (Parlament) has two chambers. The National Council (Nationalrat) has 183 members, elected for a four year term by proportional representation. The Federal Council' (Bundesrat) has 64 members, elected from five to six year by the provincial parliaments. Austria has a multi-party system, with two strong parties and a third party that is electorally successful.
