Egg And Spoon Race

In primary schools throughout the United Kingdom, eggs play an important rl in the Egg and Spoon Race, where an egg is placed on a small spoon receptacle, and the children run along straight track, the object being to:
  1. Win the race as usual, and
  2. Not smash the egg by dropping it from the spoon.
For health reasons, synthetic eggs are often used, as the consumption of raw eggs can lead to illnesses such as salmonella. It is considered by some to be a reflection on modern British society that children are no longer able to run a simple egg and spoon race without feeling the need to consume the egg to gain popularity.
