East Walker River
The
East Walker River
is a tributary of the
Walker River
, approximately 75 mi (121 km) long, in eastern
California
and western
Nevada
in the
United States
. It drains part of the western side of the
Sierra Nevada
in the watershed of
Walker Lake
in the
Great Basin
. It rises from snowmelt in the Sierras of eastern California north of
Mono Lake
and near the northeast boundary of
Yosemite National Park
. It flows north through the
Bridgeport Valley
, past
Bridgeport
, where it is impounded to form the
Bridgeport Reservoir
. It crosses into southern
Lyon County, Nevada
, passing through a
canyon
to emerge into the
Mason Valley
, a ranching region. It joins the
West Walker River
approximately 7 mi (13 km) south of
Yerington
to form the Walker River.
