Duncanville is a city located in Dallas County, Texas in the United States of America. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 36,081.

Geography

Duncanville is located at 32°38'47" North, 96°54'41" West (32.646333, -96.911309). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 29.2 km² (11.3 mi²). 29.2 km² (11.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 36,081 people, 12,896 households, and 10,239 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,233.9/km² (3,196.6/mi²). There are 13,290 housing units at an average density of 454.5/km² (1,177.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 63.90% White, 24.76% African American, 0.32% Native American, 1.99% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 6.83% from other races, and 2.11% from two or more races. 15.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 12,896 households out of which 38.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.3% are married couples living together, 16.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% are non-families. 17.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.15. In the city the population is spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 90.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.0 males. The median income for a household in the city is $51,654, and the median income for a family is $57,064. Males have a median income of $39,199 versus $30,145 for females. The per capita income for the city is $22,924. 6.1% of the population and 3.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 8.2% of those under the age of 18 and 3.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
