Luigi Amedeo Giuseppe Maria Ferdinando Francesco (1873-1933), better known as Duke of the Abruzzi was an italian mountaineer and explorer who made the first ascent of Mount Saint Elias (Alaska-Yukon) in 1897. He was born January 29, 1873 in Madrid, Spain. He died on March 18 1933, at Abruzzi City, near what is now called Mogadishu, Somalia. Duke of the Abruzzi Duke of the Abruzzi
