Driss Jettou

Driss Jettou (born May 24 1945) is the Prime Minister of Morocco. He was appointed to that position by the King Mohammed VI on October 9, 2002. His appointment has been controversial as he is not a member of any party, although he is now governing with a coalition which has the majority. The Socialist Union of Forces for Progress and Independence Party are the major parties of this coalition. Jettou was born in the town of Al-Jadida. His experience in government includes a period as finance minister of Morocco from 1997 until 1998. He was also the interior minister from 2001 until he became prime minister.
