Dragon Drive is an anime, released in 2002 in Japan. The series, comprising 38 episodes, follows lazy high school student Reiji Oozora and a virtual reality game called Dragon Drive, introduced to him by classmate Yukino Maiko. Although he did not realise at first, his dragon is the rarest in the game, and once he finds out, the game takes an unexpected twist. In 2004, the series was dubbed into English and released by Bandai in North America.

Fan following

Reiji's dragon, Chibisuke, has quite a following in the furry fandom due to his cute appearance and 'temping' tail swish he performs in the opening titles. Fan-made animated GIFs are popular in such circles, and are commonly used as avatars on forums.
