Donner Lake

Donner Lake is a freshwater lake quite smaller than nearby Lake Tahoe. It is located in the town of Truckee in northeastern California. It is sandwiched between Interstate 80 to the north and an Amtrak railroad station to the south. It is named after the unfortunate Donner Party who spent their fateful winter near its vicinity in 1846.
