Dogger Bank incident
occurred on
October 21
,
1904
, when the
Russian Baltic Fleet
was passing the
Dogger Bank
on their way to
Port Arthur
in
China
to reinforce the Russian fleet there during the
Russo-Japanese War
. The Russians mistook a
Swedish
ship for a
Japanese
torpedo boat. Later that night the
Russians
thought they were under attack and opened fire on
British
trawlers
in the
North Sea
, sinking one,
The Crane
. The
Moulmein
and
Mino
also took hits, but suffered no casualties.
