District X

District X is an ongoing comic book series published by Marvel Comics, from 2004. A police procedural, it is set in New York City's fictional Mutant Town, a de facto ghetto for mutants with extremely low-level superpowers. The series stars the X-Man, and FBI agent, Lucas Bishop assigned to the ghetto to investigate rising crimes rates among the population. District X features a large ensemble cast, including NYPD patrolman Ismael Ortega, an apparently ordinary human married to a mutant. A "mysterious stranger" called Mr M (also the title of the first story-arc), two rival crimelords and a large population of mutants with powers that make them ineligible for membership of the various X-Men teams. The series is written by young British writer, David Hine, who has previously written the Mambo series for 2000AD. The series was originally drawn by Australian artist David Yardin and most recently by Lan Medina. Both artists work with Brian Haberlin's Avalon Studios.
