Dipropyltryptamine Dipropyltryptamine (DPT) is a psychedelic and entheogenic hallucinogenic drug belonging to the tryptamine family. It is either found as its crystalline hydrochloride salt or as an oily or crystalline base. When smoked the effects of DPT have an onset in minutes and a duration of less than 4 hours. DPT is metabolized by the enzyme monoamine oxidase. While DPT is orally active on its own, the combination with a monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) can increases the length and intensity of the experience. Religious use DPT is used as a religious sacrament by the Temple of the True Inner Light, a New York City offshoot of the Native American Church.
