Li Jiqian
of
10th
and
11th century
China
. He was awarded the position of military governor (
jiedushi
) of
Dingnan
, and King of
Xiping
by
Emperor Zhenzong of Song China
. It is believed that as Emperor Zhenzong aceeded the throne he bestowed this position, along with the recognition of Li Jiqian's new Empire of
Xia
, to avoid lengthy and expensive military campaigns.
