Department For The Environment

The Department for the Environment was a British government department. It is now part of the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The Department was overseen by the Secretary of State for the Environment. It was formed in 1970 by the merger of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.
