Democratic League Of Kosovo

Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovs (LDK), is the largest political party in Kosovo with 47 seats in the Assembly of Kosovo. One of the founding members and the current president of the party is Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, who is also the current President of Kosovo. The Democratic League of Kosovo stand for an independent, free and democratic Kosovo. The party describes itself as being modern and democratic, uniting the tradition and future of the Albanians and paving the way towards independence for Kosova. It was formed in 1989 by a group of intellectuals headed by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Rugova. The referendum for self-determination of Kosova in 1991 was, among others, organized by the Democratic League of Kosovo. The first post-war and the current Chair of Assembly of Kosovo, Akademik Nexhat Daci, is a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo. The party is presided by a President and three Vice presidents, which are currently Eqrem Kryeziu, Kolë Berisha and Naim Jerliu. It is closely linked to the popular Kosovo daily Bota Sot.
