Daniel Sleator

Daniel Dominic Kaplan Sleator is a professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. With Robert Tarjan, he invented the splay tree data structure and developed the technique of competitive analysis for online algorithms. He is the brother of young adult science fiction author William Sleator.
