DamansaraDamansara is a one of 36 subdivisions of the district of Petaling in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It is named after the Sungai Damansara (Damansara River) which flows nearby. It is one of the most densely populated areas in Malaysia. As of 2004, it includes the following townships: Commercial Prospects Commercially it is positioned to do well, boasting a Tesco outlet, the Ikano Power Centre shopping complex, the One Utama shopping complex, the largest Ikea outlet in Southeast Asia, as well as the up and coming "The Curve" shopping complex, all of them located within a stone's throw of each other. Political Representation Due to different delineations for electoral purposes, as of 2004, Damansara is represented in Parliament under the constituency of Subang by Karnail Singh Nijhar, a member of the Malaysian Indian Congress. In the Selangor State Assembly, the townships are represented by Lim Choon Kin from the Malaysian Chinese Association for the constituency of Damansara Utama, Yong Dai Ying from the Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia for the constituency of Bukit Lanjan and Mohd Mokhtar Ahmad Dahlan of the United Malays National Organisation for the constituency of Kota Damansara.
