Cyberathlete Professional LeagueThe Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) was founded in 1997 by Angel Munoz as a professional sports tournament for computer gamers. The CPL holds tournaments throughout the USA and Europe, for substantial amounts of money. The CPL is aiming to take computer gaming to another level. Unreal Tournament 2004 Painkiller World Tour At the 2004 Cyberathlete Extreme Summer Championships, the CPL announced details on its largest event ever, the World Tour. The event is planned to take place throughout 2005, with a total of 10 international stops and a finals event held in the USA. The total purse will be a whopping $1 Million USD, with $50,000 USD at each international stop, and a $500,000 final. Along with announcing the World Tour, the CPL later announced the game to be played at the event would be Painkiller. frame Turkey frame Spain frame Brazil frame Germany frame USA frame UK frame Sweden frame China frame Chile Finals The World Tour Grand Finals are currently scheduled for late November 2005 and will be hosted in the United States of America. The exact location and date of the finals will be announced at the USA World Tour Stop. The finals will host the top 16 Painkiller winners from all stops around the globe. After being brought back to the USA they be pitted in a one versus one tournament for the largest bounty in video game history: $500,000 USD. External links
