Cumming, GeorgiaCumming is a city located in Forsyth County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,220. Census Estimates of 2003 indicate a population of 5,034. The city is the county seat of Forsyth County. Geography Cumming is located at 34°12'30" North, 84°8'15" West (34.208464, -84.137575). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.3 km² (5.9 mi²). 15.3 km² (5.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.34% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 4,220 people, 1,427 households, and 960 families residing in the city. The population density is 276.6/km² (717.1/mi²). There are 1,507 housing units at an average density of 98.8/km² (256.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 89.48% White, 2.01% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.69% from other races, and 2.25% from two or more races. 16.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,427 households out of which 32.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.0% are married couples living together, 15.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% are non-families. 28.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.11. In the city the population is spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 16.6% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.9 males. The median income for a household in the city is $38,237, and the median income for a family is $47,270. Males have a median income of $27,201 versus $29,115 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,445. 17.5% of the population and 10.7% of families are below the poverty line.
