Cumings, TexasCumings is a census-designated place located in Fort Bend County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 683. Geography Cumings is located at 29°34'25" North, 95°48'12" West (29.573483, -95.803286). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.0 km² (3.1 mi²). 7.8 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.26% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 683 people, 172 households, and 156 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 87.0/km² (225.6/mi²). There are 186 housing units at an average density of 23.7/km² (61.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 60.76% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 35.43% from other races, and 3.51% from two or more races. 91.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 172 households out of which 50.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.9% are married couples living together, 13.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 9.3% are non-families. 8.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.97 and the average family size is 4.16. In the CDP the population is spread out with 34.8% under the age of 18, 13.0% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 16.7% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 27 years. For every 100 females there are 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.6 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $36,316, and the median income for a family is $36,776. Males have a median income of $25,847 versus $16,641 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $10,399. 20.5% of the population and 24.0% of families are below the poverty line.
