Culpepper Island

Culpepper Island is a very tiny island in the Atlantic Ocean close to Ragged Point, Saint Philip found in Barbados. Found near Culpepper Island is the East Point Lighthouse. The island is totally uninhabited and according to some accounts the island is now overgrown with bush and some coconut trees. Occasionally some sheep herders will take advantage of the abundance of vegetation on Culpepper and may take their sheep out to the island by boat to graze. According to one account it was also possible to wade out to Culpepper Island from the mainland during low-tide, but discretion should be used, as this is the turbulent Atlantic Ocean side of Barbados. The footing is rather rocky and can be dangerous. Visitors should bear in mind that the lighthouse at this location was built to save ships from the dangers of this same turbulent coastline.
