Cubic Boron Nitride

Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) is used as an abrasive. Although CBN is less than half as hard as diamond, it is better suited for processing iron alloys because it is not subject to high temperature reactions between carbon (diamond) and iron. CBN are created by squeezing soft boron carbonitrides (BC2N, BC4N) into a harder form.
