There is a similar award in Australia also known as the Cross of Valour. Before the introduction of the Cross of Valour, the Canadian Government recommended the awarding of the George Cross. There have been 10 George Crosses awarded to Canadians: 8 military, 1 Merchant Navy, and 1 woman.
