Coulee Dam is a town located in Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,044.

History

Coulee Dam was officially incorporated on February 26, 1959.

Geography

  Dam is located at 47°58'6" North, 118°58'41" West (47.968467, -118.978162). 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.85% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,044 people, 448 households, and 305 families residing in the town. The population density is 592.8/km² (1,532.5/mi²). There are 499 housing units at an average density of 283.3/km² (732.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 64.56% White, 0.29% African American, 29.12% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 4.98% from two or more races. 2.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 448 households out of which 25.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.0% are married couples living together, 11.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.7% are non-families. 27.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 2.74. In the town the population is spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 20.7% from 25 to 44, 29.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.3 males. The median income for a household in the town is $37,391, and the median income for a family is $45,066. Males have a median income of $38,000 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the town is $18,791. 9.8% of the population and 6.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 14.9% of those under the age of 18 and 11.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
