, a twin-engine turboprop flying the route crashed on the approach to Kirksville, killing 13 people and injuring two. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, but the flight did go down in heavy rain and thunderstorms. It is not thought that terrorism is the cause at this time. According to the
Kansas City Star
newspaper, some of the 13 passengers were doctors from other states who had been due to attend a seminar at the
Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
