Coppell, TexasCoppell is a city located in Dallas County,Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 35,958. The city is particularly noted for its high school, Coppell High School, widely considered to be one of the best high schools in the state. Geography Coppell is located at 32°58'2" North, 96°59'12" West (32.967341, -96.986564). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 38.6 km² (14.9 mi²). 38.5 km² (14.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.20% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 35,958 people, 12,211 households, and 9,781 families residing in the city. The population density is 933.7/km² (2,418.5/mi²). There are 12,587 housing units at an average density of 326.8/km² (846.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.23% White, 3.26% African American, 0.34% Native American, 9.30% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.88% from other races, and 1.97% from two or more races. 6.92% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 12,211 households out of which 54.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.7% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.9% are non-families. 16.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.94 and the average family size is 3.34. In the city the population is spread out with 34.7% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 39.0% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 2.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.2 males. The median income for a household in the city is $96,935, and the median income for a family is $106,630. Males have a median income of $76,681 versus $43,750 for females. The per capita income for the city is $40,219. 1.9% of the population and 1.4% of families are below the poverty line.
