Continental Blockade
The
Continental Blockade
was a blocking of
European
ports for trade with
England
. It was declared by
Napoleon
in
November
,
1806
. The blockade did not have the intended result of breaking English power but instead created a shortage of colonial products on the continent. One of these was sugar from
sugarcane
. As a result the
sugar beet
spread over Europe as a new resource of sugar.
