Comedy Playhouse

Comedy Playhouse was an occasional BBC television anthology series of the 1960s and early 1970s, consisting of one-off plays with the potential to be turned into regular sitcoms. Each individual show in the series of six programmes would have different writers and star different performers. The most successful series to originate out of Comedy Playhouse was Steptoe and Son, which began as a play called The Offer. There were several others, including Are You Being Served? and Til Death Us Do Part.
