Colwyn Bay Colwyn Bay (Welsh: Bae Colwyn) is a town in Conwy, North Wales. It is a seaside resort, on the coast of the Irish Sea. The A55 road cuts through it. The town's population is approximately 30,000. Attractions Attractions in Colwyn Bay include its pleasure pier and Welsh Mountain Zoo. Colwyn Bay hosted the National Eisteddfod in 1910, 1947 and 1995. Famous People Famous people from the town include Monty Python star Terry Jones, two-time James Bond actor Timothy Dalton and Big Breakfast presenter Paula Yates, who famously had relationships with Sir Bob Geldof and Michael Hutchence of INXS. The current headmaster is Clive Hampton, who strictly enforces the schools dress code of a maroon jumper emblazoned with the Eirias crest on it, black trousers/skirt, a white shirt and a tie with black, maroon and silver stripes.
