Clyde, TexasClyde is a city located in Callahan County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,345. Geography Clyde is located at 32°24'16" North, 99°29'53" West (32.404444, -99.498150). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.2 km² (2.4 mi²). 6.2 km² (2.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 3,345 people, 1,292 households, and 989 families residing in the city. The population density is 540.4/km² (1,401.0/mi²). There are 1,410 housing units at an average density of 227.8/km² (590.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.29% White, 0.36% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 1.58% from other races, and 1.08% from two or more races. 4.04% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,292 households out of which 36.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% are married couples living together, 13.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% are non-families. 22.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.56 and the average family size is 2.96. In the city the population is spread out with 28.7% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 86.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.5 males. The median income for a household in the city is $33,085, and the median income for a family is $37,257. Males have a median income of $27,426 versus $22,188 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,699. 8.0% of the population and 5.3% of families are below the poverty line.
