Close HarmonyClose harmony is chords whose notes are arranged within a narrow range, typically within one octave. Close harmony is fairly common, though distinctive or examples of consistent use include Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade" using the full range of single-reed wind instruments (soprano and bass clarinets, soprano, tenor, and bass saxophones) to make a distinctive sound. Other uses of close harmony include barbershop quartet and some other a cappella music.
