Clapham South Tube Station

Clapham South tube station is a station on London Underground's Northern Line. It is on the boundary between Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3, and lies between Clapham Common and Balham. Clapham South tube station has a lovely aspect onto the southern edge of Clapham Common. A famous location near the tube station is High Trees House on Nightingale Lane. A dispute over the rent to be paid by a tenant who was living there was the foundation for the decision in Central London Property Trust Ltd v. High Trees House Ltd 1947 K.B. 130 wherein Lord Denning expanded on the English law doctrine of promissory estoppel. It is one of eight London Underground stations which has a deep-level air-raid shelter underneath it.
