Christopher Paolini

Christopher Paolini is the author of the Inheritance trilogy. Christopher was born on November 17, 1983 in Paradise Valley, Montana. Homeschooled for his entire life, he graduated high school at the age of 15 through an accredited correspondence course. It was then that Christopher started to work on what would become the novel Eragon and its two sequels. His first draft took a year to finish, and the following year was spent editing the book. In 2002, Eragon was released by Paolini International, LLC, his parents' publishing company. He then toured 130 western schools, discussing reading and writing---all the while dressed in a red swordsman's shirt, black pantaloons, and lace-up boots. When novelist Carl Hiaasen was introduced to the book via his stepson, he told his publisher, Knopf. An offer was made by Knopf. The Paolinis found a literary agent and Eragon and the rest of the Inheritance Trilogy were sold. After more editing, in which about 20,000 words were taken out, the second edition of Eragon was published in August of 2003. Eragon spent 24 weeks on the bestsellers list, is currently outselling all but the fifth Harry Potter book, and developed a strong fan following. Christopher is now hard at work with the second installment, Eldest. Information for this article courtesy of du Shurtugals.
