Christian Nyby

Christian Nyby (September 1, 1913 - September 17, 1993) was an American television and film director. He started his career as a film editor in the 1940s. During this period, he worked on four films for famous director Howard Hawks, of which one (Red River) led to an Academy Award nomination. His first, and best known, film credit as a director was the classic horror film The Thing From Another World (on which he received uncredited assistance from Hawks, who was the film's producer). Much of his subsequent work was done in television.
