History

In 1890, the prominent Choate family started the Rosemary Hall School for girls, which moved to Greenwich, Connecticut in 1906. The Choate School for boys was founded in 1896. In 1971, Rosemary Hall moved back to Wallingford, and the two schools formally merged to form Choate Rosemary Hall in 1973.

Overview

Choate provides a comprehensive curriculum in English, mathematics, science, foreign languages, history, ethics, economics, and a range of electives. Choate also offers a range of activities, including 81 interscholastic teams in 32 sports; two I.M. Pei-designed buildings: the arts center (for music, drama, and visual arts) and the science center; academic clubs; student run newspapers and magazines; and many other activities.
