Chiny

Chiny is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Luxembourg and the Gaume region. On January 1st, 2004 Chiny had a total population of 4,920 (2,471 males and 2,449 females). The total area is 113.69 km² which gives a population density of 43.27 inhabitants per km². Chiny is located in the south of the French-speaking region. The municipality is on the boundary between the region of Gaume and the Ardennes. Six villages are in the municipality of Chiny : The blazon of the municipality is composed of three silver trout with a blue background color. On a historical perspective, Chiny is an old county and was larger than the current municipality.
