Chinook, WashingtonChinook is a census-designated place located in Pacific County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 457. Geography is located at 46°16'20" North, 123°56'46" West (46.272122, -123.946037). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 457 people, 210 households, and 137 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 173.0/km² (446.8/mi²). There are 263 housing units at an average density of 99.6/km² (257.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 96.50% White, 0.00% African American, 0.88% Native American, 0.66% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 1.75% from two or more races. 1.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 210 households out of which 20.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% are married couples living together, 6.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.3% are non-families. 31.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family size is 2.71. In the CDP the population is spread out with 19.3% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 20.6% from 25 to 44, 32.6% from 45 to 64, and 23.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.2 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $30,417, and the median income for a family is $40,000. Males have a median income of $40,568 versus $20,625 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $17,198. 18.2% of the population and 13.2% of families are below the poverty line.
