ChinleyChinley Village near Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, England. Population circa 2000. It had an industrial base rather than agricultural due to the 3 textile mills in the valley. Since the 1960's most of its inhabitants commute to work in Manchester or Sheffield. The coming of the railways were the reason Chinley grew from the tiny hamlet it had been, and the village is actually named after its station, rather than the other way around. It had an important railway junction on the Midland railway/Hope Valley line and at one time it common to have to change trains in Chinley en route for Manchester, London or Sheffield. The station is now a single platform on the trans-pennine line between Sheffield and Manchester and the glamour is gone.
