It was founded as a Special Tax District in 1922 and was incorporated as a village in 1982. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 641. Geography Chevy Chase Section Five is located at 38°58'59" North, 77°4'29" West (38.983060, -77.074786). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 641 people, 224 households, and 189 families residing in the village. The population density is 2,474.9/km² (6,114.6/mi²). There are 228 housing units at an average density of 880.3/km² (2,174.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 95.94% White, 0.16% African American, 0.00% Native American, 1.25% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.03% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 3.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 224 households out of which 48.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.8% are married couples living together, 5.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.6% are non-families. 13.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.86 and the average family size is 3.12. In the village the population is spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 21.8% from 25 to 44, 30.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.8 males. The median income for a household in the village is $153,626, and the median income for a family is $168,664. Males have a median income of $100,000 versus $80,000 for females. The per capita income for the village is $70,372. 0.5% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
