Chestnut Hill College

Chestnut Hill College is a four-year liberal arts college in Philadelphia. It was founded in 1924 as an all-women's school by the Sisters of Saint Joseph. It was originally called Mount Saint Joseph College and assumed its current name in 1938. In 1980, it began to offer master's degrees and in 1997 began to offer doctorates. It became coeducational 2003. Its sports teams are known as the Griffins and compete in the Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the North East Athletic Conference.
