Chester Zoo

Chester Zoo is an award winning zoological garden in Cheshire in the United Kingdom. It is a long established, and extremely popular attraction for the whole of the North West of England. It was the first zoo in the UK to successfully breed elephants in captivity. The most famous of these was "Jubilee", so named as it was born in 1977, the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. One of the most famous sights there are the chimpanzees. Some have lived there for over 30 years, and it is a well-established colony. It has a monorail transportation system, restaurants, children's playing park, picnic lawns, children's petting zoo, and educational notices for visitors. Conservation work is part of the zoo's strategy to help animals that are endangered in the wild. They also have sponsorship schemes for members of the public to support the care and welfare of a chosen creature.
