Cheez Whiz

Cheez Whiz is a thick, heavy cheese sauce and a trademarked product made by Kraft Foods introduced in 1952. The bright, orange, viscous liquid usually comes in either a glass jar or an aerosol can (sold under the name Easy Cheez), and is used as a topping for corn chips, hot dogs, cheesesteaks, and other foods. It is popular in the United States. The novelty of spraying cheese out of an aerosol can has been effective at attracting customers. Cheez Whiz is one of a number of "processed cheese foods", a category including similar products like Velveeta and some types of individually-wrapped cheese slices. These products contain some elements of actual cheese but derive their tanginess and strong flavor from added citric acid and flavoring compounds. Products include:
  • Cheez Whiz
  • Cheez Whiz Light
  • Salsa Con Queso
