Chebyshev Distance

In a plane, the Chebyshev distance between the point P1 with coordinates (x1, y1) and the point P2 at (x2, y2) is
\max\left(\left|x_1 - x_2\right|, \left|y_1 - y_2\right|\right).\,
This concept is named after Pafnuty Chebyshev. In chess, the distance between squares for kings and queens is measured in Chebyshev distance. Except that they can only reach half the squares on a chessboard, bishops also measure distance Chebyshev-style.
