Changi Airport MRT Station is one of the terminal stations for the East West (EW) MRT Line, located in between Terminal 2 and the future Terminal 3. Changi Airport is the only MRT Station in Singapore to have both fare gates & the platforms on the same level. This station serves airport staff as well as locals & tourists who wish for a quick & cheap ride to and from the city or to and from the other parts of the island. Train services from this station are not dedicated airport train services such as Hong Kong's Airport Express, Kuala Lumpur's KLIA Express or London's Heathrow Express. Rather, train services are subway/commuter train services. Thus, trains can get crowded as it nears the city centre during peak hours. When travelling from the airport to the city centre, travellers must change trains at EW4 Tanah Merah Interchange Station to another that goes to the city. Nevertheless, the train does get you pretty much to anywhere you want to go and the rides are comfortable, quick & very affordable, with fares to the city centre costing only about US$1.
