CeratosaurusCeratosaurus was a relatively common predatory dinosaur of the Jurassic period. It is easily recognised by the large lumps of bone it sported on the end of its nose and above its eyes. These look a little like horns (indeed, it's name means "horn nosed lizard") but they were actually rounded and blunt. Ceratosaurus was typically 4.5 - 6 meters in size, weighing 500kg up to 1 tonne. The African subspecies C. ingens may have been much larger, with size estimates ranging up to 5 tonnes, which if correct would make it one of the largest of the Theropoda.
