Celt-iberian

The Celt-Iberians (Span. Celt-Iberos) were a type of inhabitants of the Iberian peninsula at the time it was conquered by the Roman Empire. According to one theory, they were a mixture between Iberian people living at the Mediterranean coast, and people of Celtic origin living in the North, who entered the Iberian peninsula through the Pyrenees in the 9th century BC. This is based in some archeological remains, showing a mixed culture. Another theory suggests that the Celtic invaders took Iberian villages, which would also explain the mixed archeological remains. According to this theory, Celtiberians should be considered as a branch of the Celts, and completely unrelated to the Iberians.
