There was also a place named Carrollton, Maryland (from which the signer of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll of Carrollton came), but there is only the town of New Carrollton, Maryland. These should not be confused with various places named Carroll, or with Carrolltown, Pennsylvania (with an extra "w").
